3 Coffees, 3 Winners
This bundle of the Darks Coffee Roasters consists of three great and versatile coffees which focus on different accents. If you compare all three directly, you’ll easily discover shared features and distinct paths the coffees go down with different heritages.
Dark Chocolate with light sweetness wins prizes
If you start off with U47 you’ll find a well-balanced espresso with a structured sweet and clean cup. Composed of coffees from Colombia, Papua New Guinea and Panama, it combines all the characteristics we love from each country. The syrupy body pairs notes of roasted flavours such as malt over nutty nuances to dark chocolate with crisp acids and some light and clean sweetness reminding you of brown sugar.
Bronze Winner, Sweet As Honey
M49 has a very different heritage background, but the structure has a similar basis as U47. It also combines a heavy body with low acidity and the flavours range from roasted cereal to a caramel touch. To round things up, you’ll find cashew and spices leading into a dark finish. The acidity is slightly lower than U47 but a tad more defined as it comes with a light touch of dark berries. If prepared with milk, milk chocolate and honey sweetness breaks through.
Chocolate, Nuts and Berries from Ethiopia
LA2A, on the other hand, steers in a totally different direction and provides you with a more complex setup. It’s a perfectly balanced blend, combining the complexity of Ethiopian coffee with nougat and nutty flavours. The bright and delicate acids open into a dense berry flavoured middle palate and transition into a long, rich and complex finish. When enjoyed black, berries, coconut and nougat flavours dominate. If you add some milk an aftertaste of chocolate and nutty candy resonates.
All three blends go well for espresso machines as well as for practically any other device.
